Rumble Ponies give up three home runs as they lose to the Sea Dogs 11-3 on July 4th
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) - After getting down 4-0 in the first inning the Binghamton Rumble Ponies could not manage a comeback and lost 11-3 to the Portland Sea Dogs.
In the top of the first, Portland got home runs from Hudson Potts and David Hamilton to put them up four early.
Then in the bottom of the inning, Carlos Cortes drove in Brandon McIlwain on a sacrifice fly to put the Ponies on the board.
But the Sea Dogs kept on scoring as they put another run up in the fifth off a Christian Koss sacrifice fly. Then, in the seventh Nick Sogard and Stephen Scott both hit RBI singles for the Sea Dogs before Tyreque Reed hit a grand slam to put Portland up by ten.
The Rumble Ponies then got a run in the bottom of the inning as McIlwain hit a sacrifice fly. Finally, in the ninth, Matt Winaker hit an RBI single to make the final score 11-3.
The two teams will continue the series on Wednesday at Mirabito Stadium with first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
