ERIE, P.A. (WBNG) - After scoring seven unanswered runs, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies couldn’t complete the comeback against the Erie Seawolves and lost 9-7.

The comeback began in the sixth inning with the Ponies trailing 9-0 when Zach Ashford got the team on the board with an RBI double. The next inning, Brett Baty hit a three-run home run, his 13th homer of the year, to make the score 9-4.

Then in the eighth, Matt Winaker drove in a run to pull the Ponies within four. Finally in the ninth, Jeremy Vasquez and Ashford both drove in runs but the rally stopped there as the Ponies lost by two.

Erie jumped out in front in the first inning with six runs. The Seawolves then added another three runs in the fifth.

The two teams will complete their series on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. at UMPC Park in Erie, PA.
