$4,000 donation helping to fund new science kits for St. John the Evangelist School

Binghamton (WBNG) - One Binghamton elementary school is now offering a new science program to some students returning in the Fall.
On Thursday, St. John the Evangelist School received a $4,000 donation.
The money was made possible through a $2,000 National Automobile Dealers Foundation grant awarded to Stephen Scoville, an ambassador of the foundation.
The donation was then matched by the Scoville-Meno Family of Dealerships.
St. John’s Principal Emily Regan said the money will fund the schools new kindergarten through 2nd grade science program, which includes hands-on science kits.
“Science and technology is so important for all of our children in this day in age,” Regan said. “So, to become critical thinkers, to ask questions about why this does this and understanding living science, physical science. It will help them to become active learners in their learning and more importantly, be critical thinkers.
The money will help to purchase about 75 kits.
