BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) - The 21st annual Jim “Mudcat” Grant Legacy All-Star Golf Tournament was announced on Friday in a press conference at Mirabito Stadium.

The tournament will be held on Thursday, September 1st, at the Links at Hiawatha Landing.

The event began back in 2002 when former MLB pitcher Jim “Mudcat” Grant partnered with the Broome County Urban League and Security Mutual Life. The tournament is also presented by the Black Aces, the group of African American major league pitchers who have won 20 or more games in a season.

“We have 20-plus celebrities that have already signed up for this year. It’s pretty incredible when you think that these individuals, these prior athletes, come from around the country, from different cities to be here,” said Chairman of Security Mutual Life Insurance, Bruce Boyea. “They feel Binghamton is part of their family and it’s because of great people.”

The proceeds from the tournament support charitable programs offered by various organizations in the Binghamton area including Broome County Urban League, The Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton, Catholic Charities of Broome County, and CHOW.

The lineup for this year’s event has yet to be announced.
