Rumble Ponies come back falls short, drop series finale to Fisher Cats 9-6
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth, but could not pull any closer and lost 9-6 to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in their series finale at Mirabito Stadium.
New Hampshire began the game with a home run by their first batter Davis Schneider to take an early lead. In the bottom of the first, though, James McCann put the Ponies in front with a two-run homer.
The Fisher Cats then scored a run in the second and third to jump back out in front 3-2 before Nick Meyer tied the game up for Binghamton with a solo home run in the fourth.
Then, in the sixth and seventh, New Hampshire scored six runs off three home runs as Cam Eden, Trevor Schwecke, and Zac Cook all went yard.
Finally, in the bottom of the eighth, Wyatt Young, Meyer, and Jeremy Vasquez all got RBIs as the Rumble Ponies got the score within three, but could not complete the comeback.
Binghamton will be back in action on Tuesday when the begin their series in Somerset against the Patriots at 6:05 p.m. at TD Bank Ballpark.
