The cold front that brought showers and storms to the region on Thursday has now stalled out across northern New York. With this boundary set up not moving for the next several days, the heat and humidity is locked into the Southern Tier.
Friday through Sunday is more or less a rinse and repeat forecast. Hot and extremely humid with pop-up showers and storms. Pinpointing the exact timing and locations of storms is going to be tricky this weekend. The atmosphere is going to be so juiced up and ready to go, but there is no real forcing mechanism besides daytime heating. Whatever does develop will wring out as it slowly drifts due to minimal winds aloft in the atmosphere to steer the storm.
The stationary front finally weakens and drifts out of the region on Monday just in time for another cold front to bring more rain to the region on Tuesday. This time, the front will pass through the Twin Tiers, allowing for cooler, and drier air to flow into the area.
