WALTON (WBNG) -- Fried food, fun rides and tons of people; The 135th annual Delaware County air is underway.

“We have a full slate here,” said Delaware County President Ed Rossley. “We have vendors - roughly over 125 vendors right here on the ground - another 100 or so people that volunteer with different organizations, we have over 1,000 animals, and we have a midway that will be opening up for us tomorrow for the full day.”

Rossley said an estimated 70,000 to 80,000 people are expected to visit the fairgrounds this week.

“The big thing is all of our cattle shows are back. Our animals are big. Yesterday, we had open goat shows, we had a jersey show, we had another show come on today. Our vendors are just super excited. I mean, we got a lot of new vendors. Everything is spaced out so they don’t have to worry too much about any real tight interaction, but they’ve been able to see everybody. It’s been two years since COVID and people are just wanting to get out,” he said.

This year’s list of fair activities and events include tons of animal shows, live music, competitions and more.

On Wednesday, the fair will eliminate flashing lights and noises from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. for families who need or prefer the option.

“I hope we have a great week,” said Rossley. “It started out this morning at 8:30. They were up and already calling for more people to park cars. I mean, that shows that it’s growing and it’s a beautiful day today and we hope that the whole week is this way.”

Rides will begin on Tuesday, and the fair is scheduled to run through Saturday.
