Beginning 1 p.m., some local fire departments and police departments will aspire to be crowned champion during “The Bravest vs. The Finest.” The teams consists of local firefighters from Johnson City, Binghamton, and Endicott. They will be challenging local police from Port Dickinson, Vestal, Endicott, Johnson City, Binghamton, Broome County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police.
In addition to the game, Softball 4 Hope aims to raise money for locals in need, which is thanks to a partnership with the Constance Foundation and Cops 4 a Cause. To be specific, donations will assist locals fighting cancer with financial burdens also first responders with a cancer diagnosis.
“I think at the root of the game is the willingness of these two men that are standing behind me and their respective organizations to do their part to leave this community a little better than they found it,” said State Senator Fred Akshar. “Every dollar is going back into this community to help people who are going through a rough time or a hard time in their respectively lives.”
