BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The Broome County District Attorney’s Office announced on Thursday that James B. Lynch, 31, of Binghamton was sentenced to one and a half to three years in prison.

Lynch entered a plea of guilty to the felony of attempted robbery in the third degree.

The district attorney’s office said that on Jan. 28, 2022, Lynch forcibly stole $80 from a cab driver inside of a cab on Pleasant Avenue in Binghamton.

The office added that the cab driver immediately reported the robbery. Lynch was found and arrested by the Binghamton police after a review of surveillance cameras in the area.

“Hardworking taxpayers of Broome County should be able to do their jobs without the fear of being ripped off by the likes of James Lynch,” said Broome County District Attorney Michael A. Korchak.
