BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- To celebrate its 45th year of supporting members of the community, the Crime Victims Assistance Center, or CVAC, hosted a celebration at the Holiday Inn in downtown Binghamton on Thursday afternoon.

Past and present members of the assistance center joined each other to celebrate its milestones.

Executive Director of the CVAC Christine Battisti said she encourages the community to take advantage of what the center offers.

”There are so many people that don’t know about our services and so many people suffer in silence,“ Battisti said. ”So, this is a time to showcase that if somebody is struggling, or in an abusive relationship and wants help, they can reach out to us."

CVAC’s services are free and confidential.

The event was a tribute to all of the lives that have been uplifted and affected by the efforts of the center.
