Furry Buddy Rescue aims to win $10k for cat competition

NEWARK VALLEY, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Furry Buddy Rescue in Newark Valley is a cat rescue based out of one person’s apartment.

The rescue started five years ago after several cats were rescued in the neighborhood.

Furry Buddy Rescue Co-founder Daisy Williams Mangieri started to invest a lot of time into rescuing cats which led her to find the competition.

“America’s Favorite Pet” is a competition where participants can vote on their favorite animal and the winner receives $10,000 plus, a feature on the front cover of Modern Cat Magazine.

Mangieri explained that she would use the money to neuter as many as 15 feral cats and set up the organization as a 501c3 not-for-profit.
