Chenango Co. Sheriff’s Office investigates fatal hit & run
SHERBURNE, N.Y. (WBNG) -- UPDATE: On Monday, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office announced that the vehicle and driver of the fatal hit and run have been located.
Jeffery Maxson, 59, of Sherburne, was identified as the deceased pedestrian.
An investigation found that Maxson was walking westbound on State Highway 80 when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound.
The investigation is ongoing and the office asked anyone with information to contact the number below.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal hit-and-run, car vs. pedestrian accident that occurred on July 4, at approximately 8:45 p.m.
The accident occurred on State Highway 80 near the Rogers Conservation Center in the Town of Sherburne.
The sheriff’s office is looking for a newer model style, black Ram crew cab pick-up truck with black rims, and damage to the front passenger side.
