SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Republican Attorney General Candidate Saritha Komatireddy visited the Southern Tier on Wednesday morning as she hits the campaign trail.

Komatireddy served as a federal prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York for 12 years.

After graduating from Harvard Law, she worked as a clerk for then-judge Brett Kavanaugh on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

The prosecutor said she has taken on terroristic cases, prosecuting leaders from Al-Qaeda and ISIS.

Komatireddy said her campaign focuses mostly on public safety across the state.

“Our campaign is not really a partisan campaign it’s a campaign about protecting New York from the things that are facing every New Yorker every day, making their lives a little harder, things like crime, homelessness and fraud,” said Komatireddy.

Komatireddy is looking to unseat Incumbent Attorney General Letitia James
