Early morning fire damages home in Hancock
HANCOCK, N.Y. (WBNG) - An early morning fire caused damage to a home in Hancock on Wednesday.
According to the Hancock Fire Department, at 2:04 a.m., firefighters from their department, East Branch Fire Department, Town of Hancock EMS, and the Town of Rockland FAST team were sent to the 100 block of Vestal Ave in the village for a report of a structure fire.
When they arrived, they found heavy fire from the back of the house and immediately began an aggressive interior fire attack.
Due to the fast and decisive actions of the attack crew, they were able to knock down the bulk of the fire.
No injuries were reported by the Hancock Fire Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Hancock Fire Department and Delaware County Emergency Services.
The Hancock Fire Department was assisted on scene by East Branch Fire Department, Town of Hancock EMS, Northern Wayne Fire Department, Town of Rockland FAST Team (Roscoe/Livingston Manor), Callicoon Fire Department, Walton Fire Department, Trout Creek Fire Department, Delaware County Emergency Services, Sullivan County Bureau of Fire, Delaware County EMS with the cyano kit, NYSEG, Village of Hancock Department of Public Works, New York State Police and the Hancock Fire Department Auxiliary.
Deposit Fire Department provided station coverage for Hancock during the incident.
