Binghamton men’s basketball off to 3-1 conference start after win over Maine
BANGOR, ME. (WBNG) - Binghamton men’s basketball took down Maine 73-65 in a road America East contest Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats held a lead for a majority of the game, but fell behind with less than ten minutes to go before surging to the win.
The Bearcats dominated the boards, securing 42 rebounds compared to Maine’s 28, while Jacob Falko led the team in scoring with 22 points. John McGriff led Binghamton in the opening half, scoring 15 of his 18 total points in the first 20 minute period. Christian Hinckson added nine points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.
With Binghamton up five at halftime, Maine rallied to take a 51-50 lead, and led by as many as three before a Tyler Bertram deep ball and five straight for Falko helped regain the lead. The Bearcat defense held Maine to just three points in the final 5:24, while the offense scored 14 in that time to cement the victory.
Binghamton is back in action on January 19 at home against Stony Brook. Tip-off from Vestal is at 7 p.m.
