Here’s how to see “Big Boy”, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive, in Tioga County

TIOGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WBNG) -- The world’s largest operating steam locomotive, “Big Boy No. 4014″ is set to stop in Owego on Friday as part of its cross-country tour.
The train is scheduled to stop near Turn Golf Sim on South Depot Street in Owego on June 12 at 10:45 a.m.
The train will only stop for 15 to 30 minutes, and is expected to leave Owego no later than 11:15 a.m.
All pedestrians should keep a distance of at least 25 feet from the railroad tracks at all times.
Owego police ask spectators not to cross barricades or safety lines, and to respect private property by not trespassing.
Residents should be aware that large crowds are likely during this event, and several roads will be closed to traffic.
The following roads will be closed starting at 6 a.m. on Friday:
- South Depot Street
- State Street
- John R. Street
- Commerve Street
- parts of McMaster Street
- Central Avenue near the railroad tracks
All vehicles parked on these streets need to be moved by 7 a.m. on Friday.
There will be no parking on the following streets:
- Erie Street
- Paige Street
- East Temple Street
- Fox Street
Vehicles remaining on closed roads and no-parking zones will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.
Drivers should be prepared for delays through the village and seek alternate routes when possible.
The train will arrive in Binghamton on Friday; however, Union Pacific officials note that this is a private viewing event for Norfolk Southern employees.
“Big Boy” will also be available for viewing at the Nicholson, Pa., Tunkhannock Creek Viaduct on Saturday, June 13 at 10:00 a.m.
