Greater Opportunities looks to address the housing crisis Broome, Chenango counties

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The Binghamton Rotary Club hosted a presentation by Housing Services from Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango counties on the local housing crisis.

The presentation discussed the efforts by the agency to address homelessness and housing instability in the counties. Greater Opportunities has 13 housing programs designed to assist community members with housing issues.

‘We have several different housing programs within the area. We deal with veterans, seniors, low-income housing and homeless housing so we’re attacking it from a lot of different areas..” CEO of Greater Opportunities Mark Silvanic said.

Greater Opportunities also said they have had several cases of people starting homeless and becoming homeowners.
