Vestal Police launch ‘Crime Watch Network’ to boost community engagement, reporting crime
VESTAL (WBNG) -- The Vestal Police Department launched a new online platform to boost community engagement while tackling crime.
“Crime Watch Network,” is the first of its kind in the area that allows community members to submit tips, report crimes and find information about previous crimes. Vestal Police is the first agency in the county to use this service and the sixth in the state.
The website also provides crime mapping, alerts and community events and it was able to be financed through a community grant from Broome County.
The website also features forms that allow people to register alarms, cameras and request extra patrols.
