BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Over two dozen supporters gathered today at the northeast corner of Harry L Drive and Reynolds Road to support Ukraine.

Those gathered waved Ukrainian flags, held signs, and wore blue and yellow clothes to voice their support of Ukraine until a just and lasting peace was won.

Ukraine has been at war with Russia for over three years now, with peace talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladamir Putin moving slowly.

Protest organizers said since Zelenskyy’s meeting in the Oval Office, it is evident the conditions for peace demand nothing short of the total surrender of Ukraine after more than three years of war, hundreds of thousands of deaths, the abduction of tens of thousands of children and the wanton destruction of villages and cities throughout the country.

The supporters of Ukraine asked the public to write to their legislators to ask them to continue standing with Ukraine as the war continues.

“We would greatly appreciate it if members of our community wrote to their representatives, wrote to the White House, and insisted that we continue to support Ukraine,” said Chairman of St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church Ukrainian Refugee Humanitarian Committee Stephan Wasylko.
