WINDSOR, N.Y. (WBNG) - Students from Windsor Central High School learned more about how law enforcement can help their local communities.

Students in Justin Maye’s Law, Justice and Civil Servant class toured the Southern Tier Crime Analysis Center, or STCAC, in Binghamton for an in-depth look at a variety of career paths in law enforcement.

Students visiting STCAC participated in activities including a tour and various stations throughout the facility, including Social Media (Analysts) Decoding Messages, Identification, Drones, and SWAT.

The Law, Justice and Civil Servant Class is a new offering at Windsor Central High School, designed to help students interested in exploring a law enforcement career pathway.

Teacher Justin Maye hopes touring STCAC will be beneficial to his students. “I just love that they can actually participate in some of the activities,” says Maye. “We had some students do some fingerprinting, and they got to look at the SWAT team and, you know, pick up some of the equipment, everything, and it just is a -- it makes them excited for law enforcement.

Students in the class find the hands-on experience helpful in guiding their future.

Parker Lake, a senior at Windsor Central High School, said, “You know, I’ve always wanted to be a police officer...there’s always other careers around it too. Wild to see.”
