Port Crane sees new ice cream shop along NY-369
PORT CRANE (WBNG) - Right beside Interstate 88 is the latest business to set up shop in Port Crane.
The owner of Cones, Kelly Philhower, talked with 12 News about the reason behind this location for the ice cream shop.
“This is the perfect little location. Port Crane really doesn’t have anything like that so we just went for it and decided to open up,” said Philhower.
Kelly is no stranger to being involved with a business, however. She’s also a part of the restaurant business with ‘Beer Thirty’ along Binghamton’s Court Street.
“We just decided to try something new. Neither one of us had done anything with ice cream before,” said Philhower.
For the consumer trying out this new establishment, she runs down some of the selections.
“Hard serve, some soft serve, milkshakes, flurries, we do our own special sundaes. We have four special sundaes and three kid sundaes,” said Philhower.
With Kelly’s 17 years in the industry, the goal this time around is to have something more low-key and to be a seasonal location. Philhower also has eyes looking ahead.
“I’m going to be open years to come,” she said. “Give port crane an ice cream shop for 20, 30, 40 years down the way.”
