Binghamton officials warn residents against traveling following storm damage
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) -- UPDATE: As of July 3 at 8 p.m., the 911 landline service has been restored.
ORIGINAL STORY: 911 landline service is currently down in Broome County.
Binghamton officials are asking no one to travel during this time due to the recent storm damage.
The Binghamton Police Department said several trees and power lines are down on several streets.
Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham told 12 News the north and east parts of Binghamton have severe damage, and that crews are in the field initiating cleanup and assessing damage.
Kraham noted that residents should report damages they see, such as downed trees and power lines, and not get close to them.
Kraham and the police department advised residents not to travel during this time.
UPDATE -- The 911 landline service in Broome County has been restored.
