DELHI, N.Y. (WBNG) -- A Frankfort man was sentenced to New York State prison after stealing tens of thousands of dollars from a property owner in Roxbury.

Michael N. Salamey, 40, was sentenced to a minimum of two years and a maximum of six years in state prison after pleading guilty to grand larceny in September.

His conviction stems from an incident that took place in the Town of Roxbury, in which a client paid him over $360,000 to install a septic system, underground electric utilities, foundations and small homes.

Salamey allegedly billed the client for his work, and was paid in full, however a property inspector discovered that much of the work had not been completed.

The property owner attempted to contact Salamey multiple times, but could not get in contact with him.

Salamey was indicted by a grand jury in Delaware County court on two counts of grand larceny after it was determined that he stole more than $50,000 from the property owner.

After pleading guilty, Salamey agreed to pay restitution, but failed to do so and failed to appear in court for sentencing.

New York State Police located Salamey and brought him back to court for sentencing.

“This significant state prison sentence should serve as a warning to white collar criminals operating in Delaware County: Fraud and financial offenses will be treated seriously,” said Delaware County District Attorney Shawn J. Smith.
