Several buildings lost, firefighters injured in Downtown Milford fire

MILFORD, N.Y. (WBNG) -- An early morning fire engulfed an entire block of downtown Milford.

According to the Otsego County Office of Emergency Services, they responded to the Milford Corner Store at around 1:57 a.m. on Thursday. They were met with rapidly spreading flames that engulfed another commercial building and two residential buildings.

All buildings are considered a loss.

Two firefighters were able to rescue a person trapped in one of the buildings. They were taken to the hospital but later released.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries but did not need hospital transport.

Route 28 through the village was closed during the day for a few hours, but according to 511, it is now open.

The mayor has also issued a conserve water order for all village residents until noon Sunday due to several hours of hydrant use.
